About Us
Welcome to Capable Arts! We hope you enjoy checking out our unique t-shirts & tanks that YOU, the conscientious consumer, can feel good about!
100% organic cotton
Organic cotton is grown without harmful chemicals. It is estimated that 10% of all agricultural pesticides in the United States are used to produce cotton. It takes roughly 1/3 of a pound of chemicals to grow enough cotton for just one t-shirt.* Organic farmers produce high quality cotton without damaging the earth and its creatures. It takes more time, more skill, and (for now) costs more. But just feel how soft and rich the fabric is! It's worth it!

Eco-friendly printing
In conventional screen printing, many of the inks and cleaning products are toxic to the environment because of their chemical base. There is also the concern that PVC inks used in silkscreening produce toxic phthalates, which can be dangerous to the wearer as well.
The printing processes we use feature state-of-the-art eco-friendly inks and garment dyes. Because of this unique printing process, our shirts are soft and the designs don't crack or peel. You know when you wear a tank top, and it stretches out more in certain areas, and the design gets all broken up and cracked? Man, we hate when that happens! That's why our shirts are garment dyed, all the way through! You can read the design even when it's really stretched out. And they're tagless, too! Oh yeah!
Ethical manufacturing
Our shirts are made in the USA in a certified fair labor environment. The garment industry is well known for worker abuse, such as low wages, long hours with no overtime pay, unsafe working conditions, and hiring of undocumented workers who are too intimidated to object to these abuses. We're 100% committed to using only fair-labor manufacturing facilities. By refusing to participate in sweatshop manufacturing and by bringing these abuses to light, we hope to make ethical manufacturing the norm in the garment industry.
Committed to giving back
Capable Arts founder Leanne Johnson Levine supports aggressive research in the fight against Parkinson's Disease. Leanne's younger brother is battling this debilitating progressive illness. A portion of all proceeds will go to charities supporting Parkinson's research.
Oh yeah -- and the shirts are really cool!
Our shirts all feature messages affirming the power of presence and positive living, which is the ultimate act of empowerment. When you have made the commitment to let go of negativity, you hold the key to greater fulfillment in life. And who doesn't want that? We do! That's why we do this!

"T-shirts are a pretty universal forum for self-expression. I look at the shirts people choose to wear, and I wonder, what made them pick that one today? What does it say about them?"
"When you choose one of our designs, you're really making a statement about your attitude, what you believe in. I'd like to think the positive energy, from the way it's made to what it says, will spread into everything you do all day."
